Who We Are Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together . We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion. Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work. About the role Notion's Search & Context Platform is the substrate that powers how 100M+ users and, increasingly, Notion's agents find and reason over the right information. This team owns the search infrastructure and indexing systems powering lexical and semantic retrieval, the platform primitives for managing agent context and memories , and the scalability, performance, security, and enterprise capabilities that make all of it production-grade. Data growth is faster than ever, and the systems that power this need to rapidly evolve to support an order of magnitude growth—both in the volume of content we index and in the load that agents now place on the retrieval layer. As the Engineering Manager for this team, you'll lead a technically deep group of engineers building platform systems used by multiple product teams. Your most important customers are the Search & Context product team and the AI team (building agents on top of these primitives). You'll set the technical direction, product manage the platform scope on behalf of those customers, and make hard tradeoffs to move fast in service of product velocity — while keeping the platform sustainable, reliable, and secure. What You'll Achieve: Lead a high-performing platform team responsible for search infrastructure (lexical & semantic), indexing (including streaming & batch data pipelines), retrieval (lexical + semantic + hybrid), and the context/memory primitives that power Notion's agents. Set a clear roadmap that balances foundational platform investments (latency, cost, reliability, scalability, freshness, completeness, security, enterprise readiness) with fast iteration on indexing new entities/features and building new context capabilities for agents. Operate the platform with a high reliability bar: SLOs, deep observability, on-call health, early-warning signals, and prevention-first incident/post-mortem practices and drive measurable improvements to search and context quality, performance, and reliability for Notion's largest customers and o Partner and build closely with the Search & Context product team, the AI team, and other consumers of the platform on the right interfaces, capabilities, and commitments. Staying ahead of the needs of your customer teams by anticipating where the product is going, investing in capacity, capabilities, and primitives and making sure the platform accelerates product velocity. Build and lead the team through hiring, coaching, feedback, growth, and creating an environment where strong technical ICs do their best work. Contribute to Notion's broader engineering practices around platform design, reliability, on-call, and AI-era infrastructure. Skills You'll Need to Bring: 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams with a track record of shipping high-quality systems in a fast-paced environment. A technically leaning management style—you stay close to the code and the design, can credibly debate architecture and tradeoffs with senior ICs, and raise the technical bar of your team. Sufficient depth in search, retrieval, or large-scale data/indexing systems : lexical search (e.g. BM25), semantic search (embeddings, ANN/vector indexes), big data pipelines, hybrid retrieval, ranking, and the surrounding infrastructure. Experience product managing a platform or infrastructure scope : continuous evaluation technical architecture, SLAs, and a roadmap on behalf of internal customer teams, and making prioritization calls when those customers want different things. Strong systems judgment around scalability, performance, security, build vs buy and enterprise readiness —you've shipped systems that had to be fast, cheap, secure, and reliable at scale, not just functional. A bias for making hard tradeoffs to unblock product velocity while protecting the long-term health of the platform; comfortable saying "yes, with these constraints" or "no, here's the better path." Experience working closely with product and AI teams as customers of a platform—you can speak both languages and translate between them. High tolerance for ambiguity and rapid change; you enjoy operating in a space where both the product surface (agents, AI) and the underlying technology (retrieval, LLMs) are evolving quickly. Nice to Haves: Experience building agentic or tool-using systems , or platforms that serve LLM-based products. Familiarity with permissioned, multi-tenant enterprise data —ACL-aware indexing, retrieval, and audit. Understanding of classic information retrieval metrics, ranking, or applied ML. Has led teams through rapid scope and priority changes and evolving org boundaries. Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. About the Team The Codex Web Layer team provides the web-based systems and user experiences for Codex across the entire stack, from the Electron-like application framework that powers the application, to the user-facing in-app browser. About the Role In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure and features end-to-end for the Codex desktop client application. You will help define what it means to be a hybrid agentic/interactive web browser. The team embodies “full stack” development from the lowest-level OS integration to the highest-level interaction design. This role is based in San Francisco. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role you will: Partner closely with product and design to conceive, design, and build features for Codex web browsing features on macOS and Windows. This role will focus mostly on the backend C++ layer and Chromium, but many features cross the full stack including some TypeScript. Partner with the wider Codex team to deliver a high-performance, stable, and secure application platform for client development. This includes API design and implementation (mostly in C++) and the infrastructure that supports deploying it (in Python, TypeScript, and agentic skills). Work with a small, experienced team of engineers on this critical and rapidly growing product. You might thrive in this role if you: Have significant experience building technically complex features end-to-end. Are a strong C++ developer, especially with experience in browser environments like Chromium and Electron. Since this role is more backend focused, general knowledge of web development and TypeScript is helpful but not required. Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Communicate clearly and concisely across many different roles in the organization. Are self-directed, identifying important work and executing it end-to-end. About the Role: You'll be Recruiting's dedicated people analytics partner — owning the data, shaping the strategy, and in the room where decisions get made. The core of the role is building trusted recruiting analytics infrastructure (funnel + stage conversion, pipeline aging, time-to-fill, offer acceptance, sourcing channel quality, and recruiter capacity) and making it self-serve for recruiters and leaders. You’ll own the stack end-to-end — from raw data in Ashby and Snowflake to clear insights that hold up in a pipeline review. You're the person who turns workforce signals into recruiting strategy — bringing a point of view. This role may be based in either our San Francisco or New York City offices. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days. What You'll Achieve: Own recruiting analytics end-to-end: Build and maintain the dashboards and reporting infrastructure Recruiting leadership relies on (funnel health, conversion rates by stage, time-to-fill, offer acceptance, pipeline aging, interview/interviewer effectiveness, and recruiter capacity) — real-time, self-serve, and trusted. Build headcount + velocity models: Translate hiring targets into pipeline math (volume needed by stage, ETA to close, roles trending behind plan) and tie it to recruiter capacity and prioritization — so leaders see issues early and know what to do about them. Make talent data decision-grade: Define core recruiting metrics and their definitions, document them, and build toward a single source of truth the team can align on. Bring signal to pipeline leadership reviews: Show up to pipeline reviews and QBRs with crisp analysis and a recommendation (where the bottleneck is, what changed, what to test next), not just a slide deck. Improve the recruiting system: Use data to spot where process, calibration, or prioritization is creating drag — and partner with Recruiting and Finance to fix it. Use AI as leverage in your first 90 days: Use AI to accelerate query iteration, metric QA, and insight narratives (e.g., draft + test SQL approaches, anomaly checks, and concise readouts) while keeping the underlying logic and definitions clean and auditable. Skills You'll Need to Bring: Proven ability to build analytics that gets used: You’ve shipped dashboards/models that teams rely on to run real weekly decisions — not one-off reports. Strong SQL + data modeling judgment: You can write complex queries, debug data issues, and build maintainable models/pipelines that other people can trust. Quantitative modeling for recruiting problems: You can translate hiring stages into clear funnel math and capacity views, and you know how to stress-test assumptions. Strategic partner instincts: You anticipate the questions leaders will ask, show up with the analysis, and can say what the data implies for decisions. AI-fluent, with good taste: You use AI as a daily multiplier (analysis, QA, drafting narratives) and know when to rely on it vs. when to go to first principles. Build in Notion: You’re comfortable structuring knowledge and workflows in Notion (databases, views, documentation) so your work is easy for others to find, trust, and build on. About the Team The GTM Data Science team partners with Go-to-Market, Technical Success, Product, Engineering, RevOps, and Strategic Finance to build the shared intelligence layer for OpenAI's B2B business. The team turns product usage, customer behavior, revenue, field activity, and customer feedback into rigorous insight products that help leaders and field teams understand where customers are succeeding, where adoption is blocked, and what actions will accelerate durable growth. We are building systems that make customer intelligence proactive: surfacing risk, expansion potential, product gaps, and repeatable playbooks before they show up as escalations or missed opportunities. About the Role As the Applied Data Science & Insights Lead for GTM Intelligence Solutions and Technical Success, you will be a hands-on technical leader responsible for shaping how OpenAI measures, understands, and improves customer adoption across our B2B products. You will build AI/ML-powered intelligence products that connect account health, product usage, customer lifecycle, support tier, qualitative sentiment, commercial context, and field actions into a practical operating system for GTM and Technical Success. This role will build the data science foundation for Technical Success: defining the metrics, models, operating insights, and decision systems that help the team scale customer adoption and expansion with rigor. You will also be expected to build and lead a small mighty team over time: setting direction, hiring and developing talent, creating operating cadences, and holding a high bar for technical rigor and business impact. You will lead the development of models, metrics, and decision systems that recommend what GTM and Technical Success teams should do next, explain why, and measure whether those interventions worked. Your work will help customers move from pilots to production, deepen usage across products, identify high-value use cases, reduce churn risk, and create a faster feedback loop from the field back to Product and Research. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. The Vision Build a unified GTM intelligence layer that connects product telemetry, customer health, revenue, support tier, lifecycle stage, field activity, and qualitative feedback. Turn adoption breadth, usage depth, sentiment, and customer maturity signals into next-best-action systems for Technical Success and field teams. Create a measurement foundation for Technical Success playbooks, including whether recommended actions were taken and whether they improved customer outcomes. Help OpenAI understand customer happy paths: the use cases, product behaviors, and interventions that lead to durable adoption, expansion, and retention. Productize insights into workflows used by Technical Success, Sales, RevOps, Finance, Product, and executive leadership. In This Role, You Will: Define and lead the roadmap for GTM Intelligence and Technical Success insight products in partnership with cross-functional leaders. Build the data science foundation for Technical Success, including core metrics, customer health definitions, intervention measurement, and reusable playbook analytics. Develop propensity score models for model and product feature adoption, helping Technical Success and GTM identify which customers are most likely to adopt, which interventions can move adoption, and where support should focus. Build, mentor, and lead a small team of data scientists and cross-functional analytics partners as the GTM Intelligence function scales. Set technical standards for modeling, metrics, experimentation, documentation, and production readiness across the team's work. Create team operating rhythms that balance urgent field needs with durable roadmap execution, quality review, and stakeholder alignment. Build predictive and causal models for customer health, expansion propensity, churn risk, adoption depth, use-case fit, and intervention effectiveness. Design next-best-action systems that identify account opportunities and risks, recommend playbooks, and explain the evidence behind each recommendation. Partner with Technical Success leaders to enumerate playbooks and actions, instrument action tracking, and measure outcomes over time. Develop customer segmentation and benchmarking frameworks across products, industries, personas, support tiers, and lifecycle stages. Create scalable insight products that are embedded into field workflows rather than living only as one-off analyses or static dashboards. Translate field feedback and account-level patterns into clear product and GTM recommendations for senior leadership. Collaborate with Data Engineering and RevOps to improve the data foundations connecting product telemetry, Salesforce, support signals, revenue, and qualitative feedback. Maintain a high bar for analytical rigor, including causal evaluation, validation, data quality, and clear caveats. You Might Thrive in This Role If You Have: 10+ years of experience in applied data science, analytics, machine learning, quantitative strategy, or a closely related field. Deep technical skill in SQL and Python, with the ability to move from raw tables to production-quality models, metrics, and decision systems. Strong applied experience with statistical modeling, causal inference, machine learning, customer segmentation, churn or health modeling, or recommendation systems. Experience with propensity score modeling, uplift modeling, or related causal methods for adoption, activation, retention, or product feature usage. Experience building production or workflow-embedded data products for GTM, sales, customer success, technical success, growth, or enterprise SaaS teams. Product intuition and business judgment for turning ambiguous questions into repeatable models, tools, metrics, and operating cadences. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to distill complex analysis into clear recommendations for technical partners, field teams, and executives. Comfort partnering across technical and non-technical teams, including Product, Engineering, Technical Success, Sales, RevOps, Finance, and Data Engineering. A track record of operating autonomously in fast-moving environments and raising the quality of how teams use data to make decisions. Experience leading teams or serving as a technical lead for multi-person data science initiatives, including mentoring, roadmap-setting, and quality review. Ability to hire, develop, and retain strong data science talent while creating a collaborative, high-accountability team culture. An advanced degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work. About the Role: Notion is looking for an experienced engineer who has designed and built secure software systems to help define the security foundations for our AI products. You’ll work with product and engineering teams on agent runtimes, tool permissions, retrieval, content writes, observability, and abuse-resistant design. You’ll turn product risks into clear architecture, reusable guardrails, automated tests, and production systems that help teams ship new features safely. This role is based in San Francisco. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days. What You'll Achieve: Define and build security architecture for product surfaces that operate across customer workspace content, including tool execution, content writes, retrieval, permission checks, provenance, and auditability. Make the secure path the easy path for product teams by shipping reusable libraries, review patterns, test fixtures, and guardrails that prevent classes of vulnerabilities. Build automated red-team and regression testing for risks such as prompt injection, indirect instruction following, data exfiltration, tool misuse, cross-tenant leakage, and unsafe workspace mutations. Translate threat models for new product surfaces into concrete engineering requirements, production checks, and launch criteria. Use production signals, incident learnings, and targeted experiments to harden Notion over time, then feed those learnings back into architecture and developer workflows. Help define the security bar for how engineers use coding agents, MCP-enabled tools, hooks, and internal automation without introducing new risk. Skills You'll Need to Bring: Secure software engineering craft: You have 8-10+ years of experience designing, building, or securing complex software systems, and you are comfortable working in production code with product and platform engineers. Security architecture judgment: You can look at a complex system and reason about where the permissions, data flow, or trust boundaries are likely to get weird, and help re-design it to make them better. Security product strategy: You can turn a complex security risk you see into a product design or architecture that can be built. Builder mindset: You’d rather leave behind a useful tool, test, library, or pattern than a task or project for someone else to pick up later. Nice to Haves: Experience building or securing products with tool use, retrieval, workflow automation, content writes, or complex permission boundaries. Hands-on experience with prompt-injection testing, red teaming, model behavior evaluation, or abuse-resistant application design. Experience with enterprise SaaS security models: permissions, sharing, audit logs, data residency, encryption, compliance, or customer-facing trust guarantees. Experience building developer tooling, CI checks, coding-agent workflows, MCP integrations, or internal frameworks that shape how engineers build software. Public security research, vulnerability writeups, conference talks, or open-source work related to product security or secure developer infrastructure.
