Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next. About the role: We are looking for a Senior Forward-Deployed Engineer to join our Professional Services team. This role is focused on working directly alongside developer teams in our most strategic enterprise customers to drive transformational outcomes across frontend modernization, platform migrations, and AI adoption. In this role, you will lead complex Next.js migrations, architect high-performance applications, and build production AI solutions - all within customer environments. You'll work hands-on-keyboard alongside customer teams, whether you're migrating a legacy React application to App Router, conducting a deep-dive code audit, or deploying production agents using Vercel's eve framework and AI SDK. Our Forward-Deployed Engineers operate with high agency and autonomy. You'll navigate ambiguous enterprise environments, assess technical debt, design migration strategies, and deliver measurable business value - all while building long-term relationships that expand our partnership with each customer. There are two main profiles for this role: Next.js experts, and AI builders. Next.js experts work on deep customer code optimization, performance audits, AEO and SEO, and teaching customers how to build Next.js apps with AI instrumentation - such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc with Next.js and Vercel agent skills. The AI builder profile is less focused on deep Next.js experience, and more on identifying, evangelizing, and building AI applications and agentic workflows. Your job in this role will be to understand customers’ businesses, scope, design, and build AI agents, and prove their value. The two profiles are not mutually exclusive and we appreciate expertise in both. You will report to the Global Manager of Forward Deployed Engineering. This role is remote-first with travel to customer sites expected occasionally. Travel requirements vary, but most of our engineers travel no more than 3-4 days every other month. What you will do: Build production AI solutions using Vercel's eve framework, AI SDK, and AI Cloud infrastructure, including conversational interfaces, production agents, MCP servers, and agentic workflows that transform customer operations. Lead complex frontend migrations - modernizing legacy React, Vue, or other frameworks to Next.js, including Pages to App Router transitions, incremental adoption strategies, and large-scale codebase transformations. Automation of migrations is key to engineering efficiency. Conduct code audits and help analyze and improve website performance , analyzing customer codebases for performance bottlenecks, architectural anti-patterns, and optimization opportunities - delivering actionable roadmaps that drive measurable improvements. Architect and implement high-performance Next.js applications , leveraging App Router, Server Components, streaming, ISR, and advanced rendering strategies to meet enterprise scale and performance requirements. Embed with strategic customers to build production applications - working within their systems, understanding their constraints, and shipping TypeScript code that goes live. Drive enablement and knowledge transfer through workshops, pair programming, and documentation - ensuring customer teams can extend and maintain solutions independently. Navigate complex enterprise environments by building relationships with stakeholders across engineering, product, and executive teams - translating technical capabilities into business outcomes. Contribute to our service evolution by identifying repeatable patterns, building reusable components, and sharing implementation insights back to Product and Engineering teams. About you: 6+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 2 years in a customer-facing technical role (consulting, solutions architecture, forward deployed engineering, or technical founder experience). Experience using AI instrumentation such as harnesses, skills, and MCPs ****to build and deploy web applications, backend systems, and/or agentic workflows. High agency with comfort in ambiguity - you thrive when given a problem to solve rather than a task to complete, and you can navigate complex organizations to create a plan and drive a project. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to conduct technical discovery, present to executives, mentor engineers, and build lasting customer relationships - all with a low-ego, collaborative approach. Business acumen to understand customer objectives, translate technical capabilities into ROI, and identify expansion opportunities throughout engagement lifecycles. Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites for embedded work and relationship building. Next.js-focused Candidates: Expert-level TypeScript skills - You are fluent in TypeScript and have strong opinions on type safety, patterns, and tooling. Deep expertise in Next.js , with a proven track record of architecting and delivering complex applications using App Router, Server Components, server-side rendering (SSR), static generation (SSG), and incremental static regeneration (ISR), and personalization. Demonstrated experience leading frontend migrations - you've converted legacy applications to Next.js, navigated incremental adoption strategies, and understand the challenges of migrating large codebases in production environments. Mastery of React and its ecosystem, including advanced state management, performance optimization, and modern patterns like streaming, suspense, and concurrent features. AI-focused Candidates: Production experience with LLMs and AI applications , including agent development, cloud sandbox & filesystem agent patterns, human-in-the-loop patterns, and value optimization. Familiarity with Vercel's eve framework and AI SDK is strongly preferred. Ability to identify business cases for AI agents - many customers need guidance not only on how to build AI agents, but where and why to use AI. You’ll need to listen and understand a day-in-the-life of customers’ teams to build proposals. Bonus if you: Have led enterprise AI transformation initiatives, including building production agents that automated manual processes or replaced legacy systems. Have taught others how to develop software using AI, best practices for building agents, harnesses, skills, and MCPs. Have led large-scale migrations from legacy frameworks (Create React App, Gatsby, custom webpack setups) to Next.js in enterprise environments. Have expertise in performance optimization and Core Web Vitals, with experience diagnosing and fixing LCP, CLS, and INP issues at scale. Have contributed to the Next.js, React, or AI SDK open-source projects, or maintain popular related libraries. Have experience with enterprise deployment patterns including security reviews, compliance requirements, and multi-region architectures. Have a background in financial services, healthcare, retail/e-commerce, or media - industries with complex frontend ecosystems and growing AI adoption. Have spoken at conferences or published thought leadership on frontend architecture, migrations, or AI applications. Benefits: Great compensation package and stock options. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. Flexible Time Off - Flexible vacation policy with a recommended 4-weeks per year, and paid holidays. Remote Friendly - Work with teammates from different time zones across the globe. We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed. The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $137,000.00 - $207,000.00. Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next. About the Role: Vercel is growing fast, and so is the demand on our IT team. We're looking for an IT Operations Engineer to be the backbone of day-to-day technical support for our New York City office, someone who takes real ownership of the employee experience and keeps our team running at full speed. In this role, you'll be the go-to person for in-office IT support: resolving hardware and software issues and partnering with teams across the company to make sure everyone has what they need to do their best work. You'll manage the tools and systems Vercel's employees rely on every day, from endpoint management and AV to onboarding workflows and access controls. AI fluency is a core expectation at Vercel, not a bonus. We expect you to actively use AI tools to work faster, automate repetitive tasks, and solve problems more effectively. Whether that's writing scripts, drafting documentation, triaging requests, or researching solutions, we want someone who reaches for AI as a natural part of how they work. Beyond the helpdesk, you'll have genuine opportunities to contribute to larger IT projects and initiatives. This is a team that operates with a high bar and moves quickly, and we're looking for someone who matches that energy: proactive, detail-oriented, and genuinely excited about building great IT experiences at scale. This is an in-person role based in New York City. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite to effectively collaborate with our team and support our office's IT needs. What You Will Do: Serve as the first point of contact for in-office and remote staff on all IT-related issues. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network problems, ensuring minimal downtime and a great employee experience. Actively use AI tools to triage requests, draft documentation, write scripts, and find solutions faster. We expect AI to be a regular part of how you work, not an occasional experiment. Utilize IT ticketing systems to manage and prioritize help-desk requests, keeping response times tight and communication clear. Help with the creation, management, and support of user accounts and access controls, ensuring employees have the resources and permissions they need to do their jobs. Support in-office AV and conference room technology, including event support for team gatherings and all-hands meetings. Collaborate with other IT team members on projects ranging from new technology rollouts to process improvements. Partner with our Onboarding team to procure equipment, set up accounts, and deliver a smooth experience for new hires. Develop and maintain clear documentation for IT systems, processes, and common issues. Work cross-functionally with teams like Workplace Services and People to support company-wide initiatives and keep the office running well. About You: Experienced IT Professional: You have at least 5 years of experience in IT support or a related field, with a solid foundation in troubleshooting hardware, software, AV, and network issues. Experience in a startup or tech environment is a plus. AI-Native Worker: You actively use AI tools as a core part of how you work, not just occasionally. You reach for them to move faster, automate repetitive tasks, write scripts, draft docs, and solve problems more effectively. Tech-Savvy Problem Solver: You have a strong understanding of macOS environments, networking, and security, and you're known for diagnosing and resolving technical issues quickly and thoroughly. Effective Communicator: You can explain complex technical issues in plain language and work collaboratively across teams and departments with ease. Proactive and Adaptable: You thrive in fast-paced environments, take initiative without being asked, and can juggle multiple tasks or priorities without dropping the ball. Service-Oriented: You're approachable, patient, and genuinely enjoy helping people. You treat every support interaction as an opportunity to leave someone better off than you found them. Detail-Oriented: You manage your work and documentation carefully, keep IT assets organized, and don't let things fall through the cracks. Security Conscious: You understand the importance of cybersecurity and are proactive about implementing measures to protect company data and systems. Continuous Learner: You stay current on IT trends and best practices and are motivated to grow your skills alongside the team and the company. Benefits: Great compensation package and stock options. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. Flexible Time Off - Flexible vacation policy with a recommended 4-weeks per year, and paid holidays. We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a stipend to refresh your tech gear as needed. The base pay range for this role is $116,000-$174,000. This salary range is an estimate. Actual salary will be based on job related skills and experience. The total compensation package also includes benefits and equity-based compensation. About the Role The Next.js team builds the open source framework that powers millions of applications and shapes how developers build for the web. Our work sits at the intersection of React, framework architecture, developer experience, infrastructure, performance, and production reliability. We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to help build and lead a team working on Next.js. This is a hands-on player/coach role for an experienced engineer who wants to remain close to the code while helping a small team do its best work. You will be an engineer first and a manager second. You will contribute directly to the framework, lead major technical initiatives, review code, debug complex production issues, and help make architectural decisions. You will also support the engineers around you through clear direction, thoughtful feedback, and practical coaching. This is not a traditional people management role. You will spend the majority of your time on technical leadership and engineering execution. You should be comfortable owning difficult parts of the codebase while creating enough context and clarity for others to move quickly. You will work closely with Product, Design, and engineers across Vercel to guide the evolution of Next.js across rendering, caching, routing, build systems, and developer tooling. What You Will Do Build and ship Next.js: Write production code, review pull requests, debug difficult issues, and contribute directly to the framework and its supporting systems. Lead major technical initiatives: Take ownership of complex projects from initial exploration through architecture, implementation, rollout, and production follow-through. Set technical direction: Make sound architectural decisions across rendering, caching, routing, build systems, runtime behavior, and developer tooling. Stay close to real problems: Investigate performance regressions, production failures, and developer pain points. Turn what you learn into practical improvements to the framework. Raise the engineering bar: Establish strong patterns for code quality, testing, performance, reliability, observability, and incremental delivery. Coach through the work: Help engineers grow through pairing, design reviews, code reviews, technical feedback, and shared ownership of challenging problems. Provide focused people leadership: Set clear expectations, give candid feedback, support career development, and help maintain a high-trust and accountable team. Improve team execution: Create lightweight planning and decision-making practices that clarify ownership, reduce unnecessary coordination, and help the team ship consistently. Partner across Vercel: Work with Product, Design, Infrastructure, Developer Experience, and other engineering teams so framework changes integrate cleanly across the Vercel platform. Champion open source: Work in public, engage thoughtfully with contributors, and balance community needs with the team’s product and technical priorities. Help grow the team: Participate in recruiting, assess technical talent, and help new engineers become productive in a complex codebase. About You You have 8+ years of software engineering experience and remain highly effective as a hands-on engineer. You have led engineers or small technical teams, whether as a team lead, tech lead, staff engineer, engineering manager, or founder. You have recent experience writing, reviewing, and shipping production code. You are not looking to step away from engineering execution. You have strong technical judgment across React, framework architecture, or the systems behind a large-scale open source project, including rendering, caching, routing, build tooling, and runtime behavior. You can take a complex technical problem, form a clear point of view, write the critical code, and bring other engineers along with you. You know when to lead from the front and when to create space for someone else to take ownership. You have experience building products or infrastructure for developers and understand the quality, performance, stability, and usability standards this audience expects. You think in systems and can guide a team toward clean abstractions, consistent framework patterns, and technical decisions that hold up at scale. You are comfortable working through ambiguity and solving problems from first principles. You balance speed and quality. You favor incremental delivery and real-world feedback while recognizing when foundational infrastructure requires deeper investment. You communicate clearly in writing, facilitate productive technical debate, and make decisions when a path forward is needed. You use AI tools in your own workflow and have informed opinions about how agentic products should work for developers. Bonus Experience maintaining or contributing to a major open source project, particularly in the React or Next.js ecosystem. Experience with compilers, bundlers, caching, rendering systems, or distributed infrastructure. Experience leading a small, senior engineering team while continuing to make substantial individual contributions. Experience forming a team or technical direction from zero to one. Familiarity with the Next.js codebase, though this is not required. Benefits Competitive compensation package, including equity. Inclusive healthcare package. Learning and growth support, including mentorship and opportunities to attend events that build your network and skills. Flexible time off. The equipment you need to do your role, plus a work-from-home budget to outfit your space. Compensation The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $230,000 to $340,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. The total compensation package may include benefits, equity-based compensation, and eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program, depending on the role. About Vercel: Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company. We free people and agents to ship what’s next. For more than a decade, Vercel has shaped how the web is built. As the team behind Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, we create products that help builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience. Now, software is entering a new era, and the next generation of products will not just be used by people. They will be built, extended, and operated by agents. We are building the platform for that future, trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide . Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next. What You Will Do: Design and build V as the primary agentic interface for getting work done across Vercel, from answering questions and analyzing data to executing complex, multi-system workflows. Build the agent architecture that allows V to understand intent, plan work, select the right skills and tools, recover from failures, and complete long-running tasks reliably. Ship polished experiences across Slack, web, and other surfaces, combining natural-language interaction with rich, interactive interfaces when chat alone is not enough. Develop evaluation, observability, and feedback systems that measure whether V’s answers and actions are accurate, useful, efficient, and trustworthy. Establish primitives that make it easy for teams across Vercel to contribute new capabilities without creating fragmented agents or inconsistent user experiences. Help define what it means for a company to be operated through an agent and turn what we learn building V into ideas and infrastructure that can eventually benefit Vercel’s customers. About You: You have 7+ years of full-time software engineering experience and strong TypeScript proficiency. You are comfortable working across product surfaces and system boundaries, from conversational UI and interactive data experiences to APIs, queues, databases, permissions, and production infrastructure. You care about the quality of AI interactions: context selection, tool use, memory, latency, generated interfaces, uncertainty, and how the system communicates progress and asks for help. You have a track record of openness and adaptability. You have moved into unfamiliar technologies, domains, or responsibilities and learned quickly. This space is changing too quickly for fixed expertise to matter more than curiosity and judgment. Experience with using and building agent harnesses (OpenClaw, Hermes, Pi, etc) is a plus but not required Benefits: Competitive compensation package, including equity. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. Flexible Time Off. We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed. The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $208,000 - $312,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next. About the Role: This role owns external product storytelling across Vercel: the Agent Stack, Core Platform, and tools like v0, Vercel Agent, and Vercel Plugin. You'll translate ships into narratives that land with developers, press, and the market. You'll also oversee communications for Vercel's open source portfolio, including Next.js, Nitro, Nuxt Labs, shadcn/ui, Svelte, Better Auth, Turbopack, and our investments in the Python ecosystem. You'll work closely with communications leadership, Product, DX Engineering, and Content Engineering to make sure product work is introduced and explained with the right context, to the right audience, at the right moment. You will report to the Head of Communications and will be located in our SF office with in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. What You Will Do: Product Launch Strategy: Own external comms for product announcements and updates across the Agent Stack (AI SDK, AI Gateway, Workflow, Sandbox, Connect, Chat SDK, eve) and Core Platform (Security, CDN, Fluid Compute, Observability, CI/CD), as well as v0, Vercel Agent, Vercel Plugin, and Domains — driving awareness, consideration, and thought leadership for each. OSS Portfolio Oversight: Oversee communications for Vercel's open source frameworks, with a concentration on Next.js, tailoring your approach to the maturity and audience of each project and keeping a voice that feels native to developer communities rather than corporate marketing. Narrative & Positioning: Build thought leadership narratives around how Vercel's products fit together — and where they sit in the broader infrastructure and framework landscape. Owned & Social Content: Develop owned content, social content, and campaigns in partnership with Content Engineering that engages both commercial and developer audiences. Community Support: Stay close to the pulse of the open source community and proactively look for opportunities to support it, whether that's amplifying a contributor, responding to a moment, or spotting a story before it breaks. Community Programming: Partner with DX Engineering's community team on programming, conference participation, and activations that put Vercel's product and OSS work in front of the right audiences. Executive & Maintainer Thought Leadership: Build the public thought leadership profiles of Vercel's product and engineering leadership, and elevate the stories of the open source maintainers behind key projects. About You: 6-8 years of experience in communications, PR, or product marketing, with direct exposure to developer tools, infrastructure, or technical products. Strong writer and storyteller who can translate technical work — product or open source — into narratives that resonate with developers and the market, without oversimplifying or overselling. Comfortable working directly with engineers, PMs, and technical leadership, and skilled at pulling a story out of people who don't think of themselves as storytellers. Experience managing multo-channel, cross-functional programs, with an instinct for what performs with developer audiences. Familiarity with the frontend/JavaScript ecosystem (Next.js, frameworks, runtimes, and adjacent tooling) is a strong plus. Self-directed and comfortable owning a program end-to-end in a fast-moving environment with a lot of surface area. Bonus If You: Have genuine fluency in open source culture — you understand what motivates maintainers and contributors, and know the difference between a community that feels engaged and one that feels marketed to. Have contributed to or been active in an open source community yourself, as a maintainer, contributor, or engaged participant. Have interest in and proficiency with using agents in your workflow. Benefits: Competitive compensation package, including equity. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. We are building the platform for that future, trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide . Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next. About the role Vercel builds and maintains a broad portfolio of open source projects that power the modern web, running in millions of applications. Your primary focus will be Turborepo, Nuxt, Svelte/SvelteKit, SWR, Workflow, and Nitro . A single structural fix at the framework level protects every one of those applications at once, which makes this one of the highest-leverage security roles at the company. We're looking for a security engineer who loves finding a whole class of vulnerability and eliminating it in one move, not someone who's satisfied filing one bug at a time. You'll run deep security assessments of framework internals (routing, middleware, caching, server actions, the build pipeline), find the systemic patterns that produce entire families of bugs, and drive the framework-level fixes and design changes that remove them permanently. You'll also own how these projects handle externally reported vulnerabilities, coordinated disclosure, and CVEs, working directly with maintainers and the open source security community. This includes hands-on ownership of Vercel's open source bug bounty program for these projects: triaging incoming reports, validating and reproducing findings, and driving fixes with the right maintainers. What you will do Hunt for vulnerability classes, not individual bugs: Run deep security assessments of framework internals (routing, middleware, caching, data fetching, server actions/RSC boundaries, build tooling) to find the systemic design patterns that produce whole families of issues. Drive root-cause framework fixes: Push design changes upstream that eliminate a category of vulnerability across every application built on the framework, rather than patching individual instances as they're reported. Own vulnerability disclosure and CVEs: Triage security reports from the community and researchers across Turborepo, Nuxt, Svelte/SvelteKit, SWR, Workflow, Nitro, and other maintained OSS projects. Coordinate embargoed fixes, write and publish advisories, and manage the CVE/CNA process end to end. Run the OSS bug bounty program for these projects: Own triage and validation of incoming reports to Vercel's open source bug bounty program for Turborepo, Nuxt, Svelte/SvelteKit, SWR, Workflow, and Nitro. Reproduce findings, assess severity, and coordinate fixes with the right maintainers and researchers. Get security into design early: Partner with framework maintainers and core teams during RFCs and design review, so new features ship with security considered from the first draft, not bolted on after a report comes in. Build preventive tooling: Contribute linters, codemods, and CI checks that catch regressions of previously-fixed vulnerability classes before they land again. Own supply chain security for these projects: Harden how dependencies, releases, and published packages for Turborepo, Nuxt, Svelte/SvelteKit, SWR, Workflow, and Nitro are built, signed, and distributed. As more contributions and dependency updates are generated or assisted by AI agents, build the review and provenance practices that keep that increased volume safe. Work with the community, not around it: Engage directly with maintainers, contributors, and external researchers as peers. Bring pragmatic security recommendations to project discussions in a way that respects how these projects actually get built, and represent Vercel in coordinated disclosure norms and working groups when an issue spans multiple ecosystems. About you You've actually used or broken these frameworks: You've built real things with Turborepo, Nuxt, Svelte/SvelteKit, SWR, Workflow, or Nitro (or closely comparable projects), or you've found and reported security issues in them. This is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have: we need someone who understands what these projects actually do and how they're actually used, not a generalist parachuting in. You have a deep appreciation and respect for open source work: You understand that these are community projects with maintainers, contributors, and users who care deeply about them, and you treat that with the seriousness it deserves. You're not here to slow the project down with process for its own sake. 4+ years in security engineering, ideally with real hands-on open source contribution experience. You've actually sent PRs to projects like these, not just filed issues against them. You're energized by root cause, not remediation count: Finding the one design flaw that kills fifty potential bugs is more satisfying to you than closing fifty tickets one at a time. You can read framework internals, not just application code: Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals and genuine familiarity with how modern meta-frameworks work under the hood (routing, SSR/RSC, middleware, bundling/build systems). Pragmatic, not theoretical: You can weigh real-world risk against maintainer and community bandwidth, and land on security improvements that actually ship, rather than the theoretically ideal fix that never gets merged. Vulnerability research chops: Experience with structured security assessment methodology and coordinated/responsible disclosure processes, including handling embargoes and writing clear advisories. Clear communicator: You can explain a vulnerability, a tradeoff, or a design recommendation clearly to maintainers, contributors, and non-security engineers alike, in writing and in conversation. Comfortable operating in public: You're used to working transparently with external researchers, maintainers, and the community, not just inside a company's four walls. Bonus if you have CVE credits or published security research, especially in JavaScript frameworks or the Node ecosystem. Maintained or heavily contributed to a widely used open source project. Experience with supply chain security tooling (Sigstore, SLSA/provenance, dependency and package scanning). Thought about how increasing AI-agent-authored contributions change the risk model for open source maintenance. Run or triaged for a bug bounty / vulnerability disclosure program before, ideally for open source projects. Benefits: Competitive compensation package, including equity. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. Flexible Time Off. We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed. The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $208,000.00 - $312,000.00.
