Manager, Applied AI Engineering (Codex)
About the Team The Applied AI Engineering team is responsible for helping customers turn frontier AI capabilities into real products, workflows, and business impact. We act as trusted technical partners across solution design, architecture, implementation, evaluation, and adoption, working alongside customers to build and scale effective AI applications with OpenAI’s technologies. The Codex Applied AI Engineering team focuses on helping organizations transform how software is built with AI. We partner directly with engineering teams and technical leaders to integrate Codex into their software development lifecycle — from identifying high-impact use cases and designing AI-enabled workflows to implementation, evaluation, and scaled adoption. Our work helps ensure AI-powered software development is effective, reliable, secure, and deeply integrated into how engineering organizations operate. About the Role We are seeking an experienced technical leader to join as Manager, Applied AI Engineering (Codex) , leading a team of Applied AI Engineers responsible for driving successful Codex adoption across strategic customers. Your team will work hands-on with customer engineering organizations to design and build AI-enabled development workflows, solve complex implementation challenges, and establish scalable patterns for AI-powered software development. As a manager, you will shape how these technical engagements operate at scale — setting strategy, coaching engineers, determining where the team can have the greatest impact, and ensuring consistently strong execution across customers. You will serve as both a people leader and senior technical advisor, partnering closely with Sales, Product, Research, and Engineering to translate customer needs and real-world usage into better technical approaches, reusable patterns, and product insights. Success in this role will be measured by meaningful and sustained Codex adoption, successful customer outcomes, and the creation of repeatable technical patterns that help engineering organizations get more value from AI. This role is open in our San Francisco office. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In This Role, You Will Lead, hire, and mentor a high-performing team of Applied AI Engineers supporting Codex customers across strategic accounts. Own the operating model and technical engagement strategy for Codex Applied AI Engineering, helping customers move from initial exploration to meaningful, scaled adoption. Guide teams in designing and implementing AI-enhanced development workflows, agentic systems, automations, evaluations, and scalable application architectures. Act as the senior technical escalation point and thought partner for complex customer implementations and engineering challenges. Partner with Sales, Product, Research, and Engineering teams to align customer outcomes with product direction and roadmap priorities. Establish repeatable technical patterns, playbooks, reference architectures, and best practices that enable broader adoption of AI-powered software development. Coach Applied AI Engineers to operate as trusted technical partners to engineering leaders, executives, and highly technical customer teams. Synthesize insights from customer engagements and translate them into actionable feedback for Product, Research, and Engineering. Develop a deep understanding of how customers are using Codex, where they encounter friction, and where new technical approaches or product capabilities could unlock greater impact. Champion safe, reliable, and effective adoption of AI-powered development workflows across industries. You’ll Thrive in This Role If You Have 8+ years of experience in deeply technical, customer-facing roles such as applied engineering, solutions architecture, deployment engineering, technical consulting, or similar roles. Have 2+ years of experience leading technical teams, including hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers. Have experience building or deploying generative AI, developer platforms, agentic systems, or cloud-based software solutions in production environments. Possess strong hands-on software engineering experience and fluency with programming languages such as Python or JavaScript. Understand modern software development lifecycles and have strong intuition for how AI and coding agents can change how software is designed, built, tested, and maintained. Can work directly with customer engineering teams to understand ambiguous problems, develop technical approaches, and turn ideas into working solutions. Are an effective communicator who can translate complex technical and business topics for both engineering teams and executive stakeholders. Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and enjoy building new operating models, technical patterns, and teams from first principles. Demonstrate strong ownership, humility, technical judgment, and a commitment to helping both customers and teammates succeed. Staff+ Software Engineer, RL Data Platform
About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role Anthropic's RL Data Platform team builds the systems that produce, move, and serve the human data Claude learns from: the interfaces humans use to give feedback, the pipelines that turn raw feedback into training signal, and the tooling researchers use to launch, monitor, and inspect data collection. Every RL run depends on a steady supply of high-quality data - human feedback, expert demonstrations, graded transcripts - and when a researcher has an idea for new data on Monday, our job is to make it collectable by Wednesday and in the training mix by Friday. This is a full-stack, ownership-heavy role on a small, senior team. You'll design and ship web interfaces used by thousands of expert annotators, build the backend services and data pipelines behind them, and work directly with RL researchers to understand what data they need and why. You'll scope your own projects, make architectural calls, and see them through to production. We're looking for engineers who treat researchers as their users, build for reliability first, and care as much about the shape of the data leaving the system as the UI going into it. Key responsibilities Design, build, and operate the feedback and data collection interfaces used by human annotators, domain experts, and internal researchers. Build and maintain the backend services, APIs, and pipelines that route model samples to humans and return structured feedback to training. Own the reliability, latency, and usability of systems that run continuously against live model endpoints. Partner with RL researchers to translate loosely specified data needs into well-scoped collection campaigns and the tooling to run them. Build dashboards, monitoring, and inspection tools so researchers can see data quality and throughput without asking an engineer. Identify and remove the bottlenecks between "we want this data" and "it's in the training mix". Minimum qualifications Strong full-stack engineering skills, with production experience in TypeScript/React on the frontend and Python on the backend. Experience designing and operating backend services and data pipelines that other teams depend on. A track record of owning projects end-to-end, from an ambiguous brief to something in production that people use. Comfort working directly with technical stakeholders whose needs change week to week, and the judgment to push back when something isn't worth building. Effective use of AI tools in your own day-to-day work. Care about the societal impacts of your work. Preferred qualifications Experience building annotation, labelling, evaluation, or other human-in-the-loop data tooling. Experience with RLHF, preference data, or other human-feedback pipelines for ML systems. Experience shipping researcher-facing or other expert-facing internal tools people love: interviewing users, hunting down friction, measurably improving the experience. Experience running experiments on data collection interfaces and using the results to improve data quality. Experience working with crowdworker or expert vendor platforms at scale. Familiarity with how LLMs are trained and evaluated. Representative projects Build an interface that lets a domain expert review a long agentic transcript, flag the step where things went wrong, and write a corrected continuation - with the result landing in a training-ready format. Rework the sampling path between our feedback interfaces and model endpoints to cut time-to-first-sample for annotators. Build a campaign launcher that lets a researcher stand up a new data collection effort (task, rubric, population, quality checks) without writing code. Instrument annotator behaviour to detect low-effort or adversarial work and surface it to the quality team automatically. Design the data model for a kind of feedback we haven't collected before, and ship the pipeline that gets it into the training mix. The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $320,000 — $405,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. Product Marketing Lead, Executive Engagement
About the Team Enterprise Marketing helps the world’s largest organizations understand, adopt, and scale AI. Our Executive Engagement programs bring OpenAI’s products, research, and perspective into the room with senior leaders as they consider how intelligence can be put to work against their most important priorities. These engagements are more than briefings or events. At their best, they help a leadership team understand what is changing, distinguish what is possible now from what is still emerging, and leave with greater clarity about what to do next. About the Role We are looking for a senior product marketer to shape how OpenAI’s products, research, and point of view come together in our most important executive customer conversations. You will shape the product-marketing strategy and narrative for these engagements, bringing together customer priorities, product truth, market context, and evidence to clarify what matters and help senior leaders understand what AI makes possible for their organizations. You will personally shape our highest-priority engagements while building narrative frameworks, proof, and resources that raise the quality of executive conversations across the enterprise business. This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor role for an exceptional enterprise product marketer who wants their judgment and craft to remain close to the work. You will partner closely with Product Marketing, Sales, Product, Research, Solutions, and OpenAI executives. You will help determine not only how we communicate our work, but which ideas matter, what evidence makes them credible, and how customer insight should improve what we do next. This role is based in San Francisco. We use a hybrid model of three days in the office each week and offer relocation assistance. Given the customer-facing nature of the role, regular in-person participation in executive briefings and related preparation is expected and may require additional time onsite. In this role, you will: Shape the product-marketing strategy, point of view, and narrative for OpenAI’s highest-priority executive customer conversations. Turn evolving product capabilities, research, market dynamics, and customer evidence into original enterprise perspectives grounded in what is true and useful now. Partner with Sales and customer-facing teams to connect each engagement to a meaningful customer priority, decision, or next step. Shape content architecture, claims, proof, speaker strategy, and executive preparation for priority engagements. Exercise strong judgment about what to include, what to leave out, and how to represent OpenAI’s capabilities and limitations precisely. Build reusable narrative frameworks, proof, and speaker resources that raise the quality of executive conversations at scale without making them generic. Translate recurring executive questions and customer evidence into stronger positioning, enablement, product feedback, and future engagement strategy. Establish strong working relationships across Product Marketing, Product, Research, Sales, Solutions, executive programs, and production to bring the strategy to life at a consistently high bar. You might thrive in this role if you: Have 10+ years of experience in enterprise product marketing, solutions marketing, strategic go-to-market, or a closely related discipline. Have personally owned positioning and messaging for complex technical products or platforms. Have developed original points of view—not simply adapted existing materials—and know how to ground them in product truth and customer evidence. Have shaped high-stakes C-suite conversations around consequential customer decisions and can operate credibly in the room. Are an exceptional writer and editor who can identify the most important idea, make hard choices, and turn complexity into a clear and compelling argument. Bring the technical judgment to engage credibly with Product and Research, interrogate claims and proof, and communicate both capabilities and limitations accurately. Understand enterprise buying and can connect an executive engagement to adoption, relationship, and commercial outcomes. Can lead across senior stakeholders and create clarity without relying on formal authority. Are deliberately choosing a senior individual-contributor path because you want to remain personally accountable for consequential work. Proven ability to translate ambiguous customer goals into clear workflows, implementation plans, solution architectures, and measurable success criteria. Strong consultative discovery skills, including the ability to map current-state workflows, identify customer pain, understand operating models, surface technical constraints, and define practical future-state solutions. Hands-on AI builder mindset, with experience using AI tools to design, prototype, automate, or improve real business workflows. Technical fluency with APIs, integrations, data models, automation, enterprise systems, developer workflows and implementation tradeoffs. You do not need to write production code but you should be able to reason through technical constraints and troubleshoot effectively. Strong experience delivering implementations that drive adoption, change management and long-term customer value. Strong project and engagement management skills, including ownership of scope, timeline, deliverables, stakeholder alignment, risks, decisions, dependencies and launch readiness. Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for business, technical, and executive audiences. Strong executive presence and customer judgment, with the ability to build trust, frame tradeoffs clearly, and move ambiguous decisions forward. Bias toward action, high learning velocity, and comfort building in fast-changing AI-native product environments. Nice to Haves: Experience designing or deploying Agents, automations or AI-powered workflows with Customers. Experience with Notion, APIs, MCPs, Workers, coding agents or developer platform workflows.
